Sky News reports that
“Lorry drivers are suffering an increase in violence from illegal immigrants striving to enter the UK.”
I think this problem is only going to get worse as people who are desperate take more and more risks and become increasingly aggressive.
Africa
There have also been reports of thousands of African immigrants risking their [...]

First Minister’s Questions
Alex Salmond has changed the nature of First Minister’s Questions and it seems that he is thoroughly enjoying his new role. I am concerned that he only appears to have two types of reply for opposition colleagues. Firstly, he states that lack of his government’s progress is because of poor management by the [...]

Events from the past week or so have been distressing and have truly tested the competence of the government at Westminster. Alistair Darling, Jackie Smith and Gordon Brown are all looking a bit worse for wear. The floods, foot and mouth disease and the terror attacks during the summer are obvious examples of events [...]

I was pleased to read the guidance document “With Inclusion in Mind: The local authority’s role in promoting wellbeing and social development: Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 Sections 25-31″ that was published by the Scottish Government on the 9th November. I believe the guidance will be a useful resource for Local [...]

I watched the episode of the Politics Show on BBC2 yesterday when there was a brief discussion about the body language between Brown and Cameron during the Queen’s Speech and the debate that followed. There has also been some discussion in the press about the confrontations displayed recently during Prime Minister’s Questions, questioning whether Brown [...]

I was really sad to read about this tragedy and I will be horrified if there is evidence that migrant workers have also lost their lives as suggested in today’s Telegraph. I assume that it will be some time before all the facts are known.
Migration is such a complicated issue and it seems even more [...]

The headline story in today’s Sunday Herald is a sad reflection of what is wrong not just in Scotland but with politics in general. MSPs are elected to represent all constituents and that is definitely a challenge when considering the wide range of views and sheer numbers involved. I agree that farmers and the National [...]

I have decided to share my opinions on the world of politics both at Westminster and at the Scottish Parliament. This is my first post so I thought that I would begin by stating my general view that things could be better. I appreciate the hard job that Members of the Scottish Parliament, Scottish [...]
